1. Introduction
Jackson Dentistry and Dental Implants ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website at jacksondentistry.com (the "Site"), how we use and share that information, and the choices available to you. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
This Policy applies to information collected through the Site. It does not describe how we handle Protected Health Information ("PHI") in our role as a healthcare provider; that is governed by our Notice of Privacy Practices under HIPAA, which we provide to patients at their first visit and on request.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
When you fill out a form on the Site, request an appointment, sign up for our Membership Savings Plan, or otherwise contact us, you may provide:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number (and, if you choose, mobile number for text messages)
- Address or ZIP code
- Date of birth
- Insurance information (if applicable)
- Preferred contact method and preferred appointment time
- Reason for visit, dental concerns, or any other information you choose to share about your health
- Any other content of messages you send us
We collect only what you choose to provide. You do not have to provide health information through the Site to contact us — if you have an urgent or sensitive issue, please call us instead.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information through cookies, pixels, web beacons, and similar technologies, including:
- IP address and approximate geographic location
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed, time and date of visits, time spent on pages, and how you navigate the Site
- Referring website or source (how you arrived at the Site)
- Search terms you used to find us
- Behavioral data such as clicks, scrolls, mouse movement, and form interactions (collected by analytics and heatmap tools — see Section 3)
2.3 Information From Embedded Services and Partners
Our Site uses third-party services for appointment requests, patient communication, financing, and payments (see Section 4). When you interact with these services through our Site, those providers may collect information directly from you under their own privacy practices.
3. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking Technologies
We use third-party analytics and tracking tools to understand how visitors use the Site and to improve patient communication. These may include:
- Google Analytics — measures site usage, traffic sources, and visitor behavior. Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect IP-derived location data.
- Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) — measures the effectiveness of advertising on Meta platforms and may be used to deliver relevant ads to people who have visited our Site. The Meta Pixel may collect device and browsing information and share it with Meta.
- Heatmap and session-recording tools — record anonymized representations of how visitors interact with pages (clicks, scrolls, cursor movement) to help us improve usability. We do not use these to view what you type into form fields, and form contents containing personal information are masked where supported.
- Other analytics, advertising, or performance tools that may be added over time to improve the Site.
These tools collect information independently and may set their own cookies. Their use of information is governed by their own privacy policies. You can opt out of much of this tracking through your browser settings, by installing privacy extensions, or through specific opt-outs offered by each tool (for example, the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). Many browsers also offer a "Do Not Track" signal; we currently do not respond differently to that signal because there is no industry consensus on what it requires.
We do not use information collected through analytics or advertising tools to make decisions about your dental care.
4. Embedded Third-Party Services
Our Site uses or links to third-party services that help us serve patients. When you use these services, you are interacting with those providers, and their privacy policies apply to information you give them directly:
- Patient communication and scheduling platforms (such as Modento and Dental Intelligence) — used for appointment requests, appointment reminders, intake forms, two-way texting, and similar patient communications. Information you submit through embedded forms or links flows to these platforms.
- CareCredit and similar patient-financing providers — if you click a link to apply for financing, you leave our Site and apply on the financing provider's site under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not see the contents of your financing application.
- Payment processors — if you make a payment online, payment card data is collected and handled by the payment processor, not by us. We do not store full payment card numbers on our Site.
We choose these vendors carefully but we are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. We encourage you to review their policies.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and appointment requests
- Schedule, confirm, and remind you of appointments
- Provide and coordinate dental care
- Communicate with you about your treatment and our practice, including by phone, text message, or email
- Process payments and insurance claims
- Administer our Membership Savings Plan
- Operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Site
- Measure the effectiveness of our communications and outreach
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
We do not use health information you submit through the Site for advertising purposes, and we do not sell health information.
6. Text Message (SMS) Communications
If you provide your mobile phone number and opt in to receive text messages from us, you may receive texts regarding appointment requests, appointment reminders, treatment information, billing, and responses to your inquiries. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.
You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any text message you receive from us. You can reply HELP for help, or contact our office at (352) 293-2800. Opting out of text messages will not affect your ability to receive care at our practice; we will simply contact you by phone or email instead.
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties for marketing purposes. Information collected for the purpose of providing SMS is used only to provide that service and is not shared with third parties outside of the platforms required to deliver the messages.
7. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers who help us run the Site, schedule and remind appointments, process payments, send communications, host data, and provide analytics, under obligations of confidentiality and limited use.
- With your insurance carrier or other third parties as needed to process claims, coordinate benefits, or provide care, with your authorization where required.
- As required by law — in response to a subpoena, court order, government request, or other legal process, or to comply with applicable law.
- To protect rights and safety — if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our patients, our practice, or others.
- In connection with a sale or transfer of all or part of our practice, subject to the continued protections of this Policy.
8. Data Retention
We retain information collected through the Site for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy and to meet our legal, accounting, and dental-recordkeeping obligations. Dental records and patient communications are retained under applicable Florida law and professional standards. Analytics and website-usage data are typically retained for shorter periods, as configured by us or the analytics provider.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information we collect. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored on our systems. If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us immediately.
10. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site. Parents and guardians remain responsible for their children's interactions with our practice. If you believe a child has submitted information through the Site, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Accessibility
We are committed to making our Site accessible to people with disabilities. We work to follow widely recognized accessibility standards and welcome feedback. If you have difficulty using any part of our Site, please contact us at (352) 293-2800 or smile@jacksondentistry.com and we will work to provide the information or service you need through an alternate means.
12. Your Choices and Rights
You may:
- Contact us to ask what information we have about you, request that we update or correct it, or request that we delete it, subject to legal and dental-recordkeeping obligations.
- Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email we send.
- Opt out of text messages by replying STOP.
- Manage cookies and tracking through your browser settings or third-party opt-out tools described in Section 3.
Florida and federal law may give you additional rights regarding your information. We will respond to requests as required by applicable law.
13. Third-Party Links
Our Site contains links to other websites we do not control. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of any linked third-party site.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Effective Date." Material changes will be highlighted at the top of this page or otherwise communicated.
